How to improve your self image with clarity

Your self image has a corresponding impact on whether you achieve or reach any goal in life, so it is important that you know how to improve your self image.

There is so much confusion in the world today that you have to intentionally visualize and create what you want to have in your life.

You have to practice routines, you have to apply disciplines, and principles to get the outcome or results that you desire. This is because the human brain is so plastic that it can easily be distracted

You need to learn the skills and techniques that work. You need strategies that you can start to apply towards your goals and dreams in life. You cannot reach greatness until you reach a place within you when you feel there is so much more you can be and do. This is the experience that creates impossibilities and opportunities for you.

Understanding the psychology of the human being can make the difference between success and failure, love and hate, shyness and confidence, or bitterness and happiness. Your perception is the difference between surviving and living in freedom.

You can learn to understand who you are and how you carry yourself so that you can learn to modify it and achieve the confidence and posture you want to present before the world.

The person you listen to mosttly is yourself, the words that you tell yourself, the things that you say you are, all make up your self image.

Before we figure out how to improve your self image, let’s expand on the fundamentals.

How did you create your self image?

Most of our beliefs about who we are, and what we can likely do, have been formed from our culture, our background, and the environment we grew up.

So it is this belief that guides what we do, what we fear, what we feel we can do, what we feel is easy or difficult.

It is this belief that controls where we go, the people we associate with, the things we think we can do or cannot do. Our believe controls how we present our self to others.

Your actions, feelings, and behavior are always consistent with this self-image that was created in your growing-up days.

The reason why I encourage you to grow yourself is, the more you know about yourself, the better your chances of discovering new skills you can learn, and bad habits you can stop doing.

Most of us our self-image was developed in a different environment than we are right now. So what we believe is possible in our consciousness does not seem to align with what our subconscious makes us believe.

This is why trying to achieve something with willpower is fruitless and a waste of time. You cannot out-perform your self-image.

Your entire personality and the possibilities that you see for yourself in the future are built into your self image.

There is work to do to break down the vicious cycle of difficulty and frustration in your life. You have to choose to be intentional in your personal development journey.

This intentional action is the only way to remove what has been engraved in your mind and heart. It doesn’t matter how long you have been thinking that way, you can replace those thoughts that are not giving you the results you want to see.

What happens most of the time is that we don’t often realize that the struggles and problems that we are experiencing are a result of our self image and because it has been an accepted part of our lives for so long, we have become complacent.

I hated myself in the past, and I always felt the other people that had what I wanted were arrogant. Now I know differently, they have something, I don’t have.

Similarly, I have stopped telling other people that don’t understand the basic things I know, “it’s all in your head” because it’s not something they can control unless they realize it’s there in the first place and is willing to do the work to replace bad thoughts. Learn how to get out of your head.

If you don’t know that you can choose to control your self image, you will not try. Your self image can be changed, it’s never too late.

Start creating a positive self image from within you.

Having a positive self image is so much better than having so much money and property. It has been proven by scientists that money, power or position does not give fulfillment.

Whatever your goal in life, your motivation to succeed at it starts from within you.

This is the major reason I love coaching because questioning and reflecting on your thoughts will help you uncover the concepts and ideas that you hold onto.

The trouble with a lot of people struggling in life is not that they are not capable of success, but they do not have enough positive self-talk developing within them.

Every success, every victory, and every accomplishment starts from within a person.

Do you have a self image that you trust and believe in? Can you vote on yourself and be certain that when you get what you need, you can have what you need?

Start creating a positive self image from within you. Start seeing yourself as the person you want to become. 

There is nothing wrong with identifying that you are not yet where you would like to be. But you must admit that you are where you are, and figure out the skills that you need to get to where you want to be.

Who do you think you are? What are you confident about yourself? Below are some action steps that will get you started.

  1. Write out 5 strengths and 5 weaknesses that you have.
  2. Write down 5 interests and opportunities you can see for yourself.
  3. Stop comparing yourself to others, there is no one like you. Take responsibility for your life and start applying your strengths. You will work on your weaknesses later, just focus on your strengths for now.
  4. Write a positive statement of affirmation on  sheet of paper and say it to yourself twice everyday, past it on your fridge or somewhere you can see it everyday.
  5. Make specific scheduled time each day to focus on others. Write down other people’s positive qualities and find a way to mention these things to them.

Deep down what you and I want is a life that matters. A life of freedom and fulfillment, a life that makes a difference. You want to be happy, you want to be successful, you want to have peace of mind. The value you place on yourself is the value others place on you.

If you can complete the above exercise and remain consistent for 3 months, you will improve your self-image.

Embrace a positive vision for your life based on what you value. Nobody can make you feel inferior without your permission, and it is only the things that you permit in your life that will be permanent.
