I have, as a matter of fact, a lot of times. Maybe because I like easy or because I am if they believe and opinion that I shouldn’t have to work so hard since I have a loving and caring God as the father.
But then I am reminded of the laws and principles of life, and since God is a principled God I wanted to figure out how to ask for what I want.
The question I have found myself asking often is, why are my prayers not answered? Why is God not showing up for me when I ask him? Maybe you too are asking these questions.
I know I have to do work for things to happen, so I put in the work, and yet do not get the results I seek. As I meditated on these thoughts, the spirit of God is guiding me to grasp the principle of the petition.

Before you learn how to pray, you must understand the three components of the human body
Every person on earth consists of three parts. The body, the spirit, and the soul. The body is a vessel that carries the other two. The soul consists of the mind, will, and emotion.
So most likely the reason why it feels sometimes that God is not listening is that he has given all control and power to you. You have the will, and you have the spirit. Your body is just a vessel and has no control, your soul contains the mind which is the tool to change your perception and belief.
What you believe gets acted on by your will and emotion, that is why, if a person believes something enough, it can become a burning desire that will happen because of the belief.
The third component which is the spirit is what we use to contact the supernatural and spiritual realm. It is correct to say then that everyone has a spiritual component, and it is this part of you that connects with a greater being like God.
What does the principle of petition say?
Now that we have a basic understanding of these 3 components let’s talk about what the principle of the petition is. Petition as the dictionary defines it as a formal written request typically one signed by many people, appealing to authority with respect to a particular cause.
This is exactly what we do when we pray, believing that God is a king and judge, we come before him to make or present a request with respect to what we want, and this is what the bible tells us to do.
Why then does our asking and praying not to work? A lot of Christians do this already, come before God and ask. To understand why we don’t get the result we want, let’s look at why we petition?
Why do we petition?
The purpose of a petition is to bring a cause or case before a judge because you believe that you have a right to the said cause.
So you don’t petition from a place of plea but from a place of ownership (or right). The reason you petition is for justice to take back what you believe is rightfully yours.
This is a different mindset from which most of us have when we approach God’s throne in prayer. What if the problem has been about the mindset, all this while? What if you think differently so that you can pray differently.
This is what Paul meant by coming boldly before the throne of grace. The throne of God’s judgment is a throne of grace. So it will not matter whether you have been a good person in the past or not. Just like in the law courts, you’re judged based on current evidence.
Because it’s not about what I do but what has already been done for me. This concept will only work for you if you belong to the kingdom of Heaven

How then should I petition for what I want in life?
What is the current evidence you have that what you want is yours? What do you know or have as proof of your experience or expertise for what you want? Start with the right mindset, then take your stand in the place of prayer which is the court of heaven.
When you step into prayer, you are giving heaven a license to interfere in your earthly challenge. You don’t have what you want, because you don’t know how powerful you are.
You are a spirit and have direct access to God and the spiritual realm. With this access, you can have the impossible, and do the impossible. As an ambassador of heaven, you should not be suffering or struggling to get things done.
Your responsibility then is to step into your role of dominion, fruitfulness, and creativity. What do you want to get, create, be, become and have? Step into that position in mind and thoughts. Begin to behave like one that is in the role.
In conclusion, these are the truths that you need to comprehend to get what you want.
- You have legal authority
- You have access to God through your spirit
- You are responsible for what you have or don’t have
- You have help, from the Holy spirit who also dwells in your body
- You don’t need to wait anymore, faith is now
The government of heaven came with Jesus Christ, representing the wonderful counselor mighty God, everlasting Father, Prince of peace.
For to us, a child is born, to us, a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called wonderful counselor, mighty God, everlasting Father, Prince of peace.
Isaiah 9:6
Finally, the two things that are needed to pray according to the bible and receive answers are authority and power. Knowing this truth, with faith you can do more than you think ask, or imagine because you are a weapon of the highest God.
